Overview
The Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) degree is a unique educational pathway that showcases your specific interests and your potential applications of those interests in the “real world” upon your graduation from Penn State Greater Allegheny. This degree program allows you to uniquely tailor your course of study to meet your individual pursuits and is designed entirely by our students to meet their own goals and interests. Rather than focusing your classes on one subject, you will develop a program that combines at least three different academic areas.
The Multidisciplinary Studies degree puts you at the drafting table. Working closely with an adviser, you decide which classes best fit your interests and skills and build an undergraduate program that meets your needs.
In addition to classroom studies and related coursework, you can enhance your own pathway with internships, capstone projects, and co-curricular activities that will leave you well-prepared to enter a career in a variety of areas, including:

Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies degree program will be able to:
- Communicate clearly and persuasively the integration of their learning of multiple disciplines in a degree program that reflects their theme
- Apply empirical or creative process specific to their fields of specialization
- Synthesize multiple disciplinary perspectives into an intellectual or professional identity
- Engage meaningfully and respectfully with others who have different perspectives or world views
